He was born April 15, 1914 at Lewistown, the son of Charlie and Ane Kathinka (Rasmussen) Hazzard. He married Ruby Irwin on August 23, 1943 at Pamona, CA. She preceded him in death on August 16, 2009.
They were the parents of three sons, Charles (Karen) Hazzard of Girard, Robert (Beth) Hazzard of Lewistown, and Richard (Nicki) Hazzard of Lewistown, and one daughter, Christie (Jack) Meldrum of Highland Ranch, CO.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred and Mary Hazzard, and Bodil Kerr, two brothers, Frank and Lawrence Hazzard, and one grandson Nathan Edward Hazzard.
He was a 1932 graduate of Lewistown High School. Out of high school he worked for Jack Bath at Bath Brothers Clothing Store, and at Weirauch's Green House. He then served his country as a 1st Sergeant in the US Army from 1942-1945. Charles Hazzard was a farmer and raised Shetland ponies, Polled Shorthorns, and Jersey Milk cows. He was an avid mushroom hunter. He was a Rural Mail carrier for 31 years before retiring. He was a member of the Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1.
Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.
