A Marine squad on patrol became engaged with an enemy force south of Hill 55. Two Marines had been killed and the survivors were pinned down in an old burial ground by the enemy. The sounds of the fire fight could be heard in the distance and two reaction squads were immediately sent to assist the Marines. Linking with the men and facing a superior enemy the Marines withdrew as dusk fell with their casualties.
PFC Henderson was one of the casualties, we was killed in action as a result of hostile rife fire.
