Frederick "Fritz" Cothern, 62, of Pana, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in Pana Community Hospital. He was born March 22, 1948 in Pana, the son of Ray E. and Ethelyn Novella DeLong Cothern. Fritz served in the U.S. Army and lived most of his life in Pana. He retired from Illinois Consolidated after 23 years, and had also worked security for several different companies. Fritz loved doing construction work and had just completed the building of his own home. He also loved his family very much.
Frederick Cothern & Mary Jane Robison were united in marriage on October 18, 1975 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Decatur.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Jane Cothern, Pana, IL; children: Frederick Edward Cothern Arnold, IA; Twyla Cothern Bass, Summerville, SC; Frederick Allen Cothern, Jr., & wife Gloria, Knoxville, TN; Timothy Edward Cothern & wife Ashley, Windsor, IL; & Cody Ray Cothern at home in Pana; 2 grandchildren: Kayle & Emah ; mother: Novella Cothern, Pana, IL; and brothers & sisters: Lois Lebon & husband Ferd, Pana, IL; Kenneth Cothern, Pana, IL; Carolyn Stieg, Mattoon, IL; and Kevin Cothern & wife Candy, Pana, IL. Fritz was preceded in death by his father on February 26, 1979.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30, 2010 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with John Coney, Minister officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana with graveside military rites by VFW/American Legion/AmVets Honor Guard, Pana. Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
