Perry A. Burkhart, Sr., 60, of Pottsboro died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at his residence. Dannel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m.. Wednesday, April 27, at West Hill Cemetery, with Bobby Hancock officiating. The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011.
Perry was born Feb. 19, 1951 in Okmulgee, Okla. He was the son of Walter and Charlene (Morris) Burkhart. After graduating high school, he completed two years of college. He served in the U.S. Army for 11 years with two tours of Vietnam as a military policeman earning the rank of sergeant. He worked as a U.S. postal worker for 14 years.
Preceded in death by his mother, Perry is survived by his father Walter Burkhart; a son, Perry Burkhart II and wife Yuko of Edmond, Okla.; a daughter, Joleen Loijens and husband Dennis of Enid, Okla.; four grandsons, Perry, James, and Joseph Burkhart and Brice Corr; two brothers, Tim King of Bixby, Okla. and Steven King of Okmulgee, Okla.; two sisters, Kim Oliver and husband Roy of Sherman and Kris Vaughan and husband Russell of Gunter; three nieces, Kristell Williams and husband Shannon, Kasee Lozano and husband Isaac, Laci Miller and husband Kerry and two great-nieces; four great- nephews; childhood friend Ron Killion and numerous other friends and relatives.
