He was born April 2, 1955 in Galesburg, IL to Louis P. and Sue B. (Tuggle) Vitali. He married Roberta "Kathy" Ford in Stronghurst, IL on June 11, 1977. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents, Louis and Sue Vitali of Galesburg, IL, a son, Robert L. Vitali of Tallahassee, FL, a daughter, Kristina N. Vitali of Port Charlotte, FL and a sister, Nancy (and Jeff) Webber of Galesburg IL.
He first worked as a teacher and was Head Football Coach in Wethersfield High School in Kewanee, IL; he then was a teacher and coach for Kewanee High School. He last worked as a teacher and coached football and baseball for the Charlotte High School in Port Charlotte FL.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1973 and Monmouth College in 1977. He was of the Lutheran Faith.
A private family graveside memorial service will be Wednesday October 16, 2002 in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Daniel Siems officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday October 15, 2002 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials can be made to the Galesburg Public Schools Foundation.
