"Uncle Rainey" as I knew him was my great-uncle. I remember him visiting the family in Olney and bringing a home cooked meal-fried chicken and Rhubarb Pie. I am sure the Rhubarb pie was great, but to a younger palate was "not to my liking". I guess I need to try Rhubarb pie now that my taste buds have"matured". My Aunt Lorraine said that she went to live with Aunt Vonnie and Uncle Rainey at one time. Uncle Rainey was looked up to as the protector and person who cared for the children of his deceased sister "Mollie".
Uncle Don remembers Uncle Rainey holding him at his mother's funeral. He said as they stood there, wild horses came up and stood near where his mother was being buried. After the ceremony, the horses turned and galloped off.
The family lived in Theba, Arizona at the time of my grandmother's death-she is buried in Stout Cemetery Gila Bend, Maricopa, Arizona.
My sister remembers the sweet treats when he came to visit and he always smoked cigars.
