Robert William Abram was born on Sunday, February 6, 1921, in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. At the time of his birth his father, Wade, was 34 and his mother, Emma, was 28.

According to the 1930 U. S. Census, nine-year-old Robert was living with his parents, brother, Arthur, and his sister Ferne Cantrell along with her husband, Doyle. They were living in Bloomington on Eleventh Street.

Still living on 11th Street in 1940, Robert was 19 years old. His highest level of education he received, according to the Census, was tenth grade.

On 11 November 1942, Robert served in the Army. He was 21 years old, 5' 6", 135 lbs. and he had blue eyes and brown hair.

Once out of the military, Robert returned to Bloomington, where he married Wilma Bryant on February 9, 1945, when he was 24 years old. He passed away on Friday, 8 March 2002, in his hometown at the age of 81.

Robert W. Abram, 81, of Bloomington, died Friday at Bloomington Hospital.

Born Feb. 7, 1921, in Monroe County, he was the son of Wade and Emma Christy Abram.

He was a retired commercial painter and a World War II Army veteran. He was affiliated with the Westside Pentecostal Faith Assembly.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Wilma (Bryant) Abram of Bloomington; one son of Whittier, N.C.; two grandchildren, both of Sylva, N.C.; and one great-grandson of Sylva, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Arthur Abram; and two sisters, Dale Howard and Fern Cantrell.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Westside Pentecostal Faith Assembly, with Pastor Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens following military graveside rites by the VFW and American Legion.

Friends may call 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel and one hour before services Wednesday at the church.

1930 US Federal Census. Living on Eleventh Street in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana, Robert was nine years old and attending school. His father, Wade, was 43 years old and his mother, Emma, was 37. His sister, Ferne, and her husband, Doyle Cantrell, were living with them. Robert's older brother, Arthur, age 15, was also living in the household.
1940 US Federal Census. In the 1940 Census, Robert was going by his nickname, Bob. He was a single 19 year old who had completed his sophomore year in high school before selecting to work on the family farm. He was the only child remaining within his parent's household.
1950 US Federal Census. Having completed his duty in World War II and getting married on 9 February 1945, Robert was also the father of a four year old son. He was 28 years old and working in the Stone Quarry industry as a Drill Driver. His wife, Wilma, was 23 years old.
