OUR GRANDMA

When we lay down to sleep tonight
We know that we will rest
When God took you Grandma Mary
He got the very best

He told you there's no need to fight
You knew the end was near
He surely knew you saw the light
With nothing else to fear

We talked to you by telephone
The night they said you're sick
We heard a tremble in your voice
For this you would not lick

We talked of family, friends, and God
This day was on your mind
You told us you were not afraid
With whatever you would find

You worried much for Grandpa Jim
His future scared you so
Your family will take care of him
And that we're sure you know

This world today, complex and deep
Sometimes it gets so bad
We must resort to family life
For that you knew we had

You taught us back when we were young
And as we grew in years
Today because we love you so
Our lives are filled with tears

Because we dread so terribly
To lose you to above
But through it all we know Grandma
You filled our hearts with love

Sometimes we don't appreciate
What all you gave to us
And though we don't want you to leave
The Lord has said, "You must"

He's going to take you from us now
And we don't think it's fair
But deep down in our souls today
We know life can't compare

So now you know, we wish you well
We know that you must go
But we will miss you terribly
Thank God this truth you know
