Lee Davis Maxwell was the son of Eugene Davis "Gene" Maxwell and Callie Fornie Smith Maxwell. He was born in Gainesville, Georgia where his body now rests, along with those of his parents. Early in life, he was a farmer, as was his dad and several of his brothers. Later in life, he became and electrician with the power company.
He married Mattie Mae Mason on Oct. 13, 1907. They had two children, Ruby N. Maxwell Rainey and Dorothy E. Maxwell Harrison.
