Leonard Hayes Edgeworth, Jr., 68, beloved husband of Ernestine Chappell Edgeworth, died at the scene of a traffic accident Wednesday afternoon, December 17, 2003. L. H., as he was known, son of Leonard and Dulah Todd Edgeworth, Sr., was born in Hartsville and grew up in the "High Hill" area of Scranton. He was a graduate of Lake City High and just attended a 50 year class reunion. Early in his life he served 6 months active duty and was a reservist with the U. S. Army. His lifelong career was as a professional meat cutter in various retail stores and processing plants. He taught meat cutting courses at Florence Darlington Technical College. L. H. was a former owner of an IGA Food Store and most recently owned and operated Evergreen Game Processing, both located in the Evergreen community. At the age of 18, L.H. accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His life mission was to work " as unto the Lord." Regardless of where he was, he worked. He worked in his home, his community, his church, and on a mission trip to Kosovo. His wife of 46 years, Ernestine, his children: Laura Edgeworth, Leonard and Tammy Edgeworth, and Mike and Sharon E.
