Raymond Rutho Taylor and his twin sister, Ethel, were the first children born to John Driscol Taylor and Katherine Wiser Taylor on August 24, 1884 near Decatur, Illinois. Raymond's father had come from Springfield, Ohio, one of the pioneering families in that area.

Raymond's father broke with the rest of the family and decided to travel west settling in Holdredge, Nebraska where Raymond met and married Laura Vollman February 17, 1909.

Raymond and Laura farmed in Nebraska until they homesteaded near Douglas, Wyoming in 1924 and they spent the rest of their lives in Converse County.

Raymond passed away November 8, 1967 and was survived by his wife, Laura of Casper; two sons, Kenneth of Douglas; Darryl of Tucson, Arizona; one daughter, Iola Pile, Casper; brother, Curb Taylor, Holdredge, Nebraska; a sister, Ethel Moore, Holdredge; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Information was obtained from family biographies in "Pages from Converse County's Past," published in 1986 by the Heritage Book Committee, Wyoming Pioneer Association, Converse County; and his obituary.
