James Lawson

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be June 15 for James L. Lawson of Springfield, who died June 8 of age-related causes. He was 89.

Lawson was born Aug. 11, 1912, in Marshfield, Mo., to William and Sarah Lawson.

He married Myrtle Casteel in Springfield, Mo., on July 26, 1929. The couple moved to Springfield, Ore., in 1935. Lawson built a home in 1946 and the family lived there since then.

Lawson worked 31 years at Georgia-Pacific Corp. His interests included walking, traveling and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed attending meeting at this church, the Gateway congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Springfield.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Louise Lawson of Eugene, Jeanyce Denning of Springfield and Dorothy Romine of Lebanon; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Saturday's service will be at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2423 Seventh St., Springfield. Inurnment will be at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Lane Memorial Garden & Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
