He enlisted in Griffin, Ga in Sept 1861 and served 4 years with Company F of the 27th GA Vols. He was home on sick leave, by doctor's orders, about 2 months before the unit surrender. He was a carpenter by trade until he had a stroke on July 6, 1905 and had to apply for a pension.
