Charles Vincent Tuten, Jr. - SAVANNAH - Charles Vincent Tuten, Jr., 91, transitioned from this life to his eternal home on April 15, 2011 at Savannah Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Glennville, Georgia to the late Charles Vincent Tuten, Sr., and Pauline Polk Tuten. He was predeceased by his sisters, Florine Jones and Clarice Burgstiner. For 82 years, he was a faithful member of Central Christian Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, deacon, elder, and elder emeritus. He was a WWII Navy veteran and was honored in February for his military service by Hospice Savannah and by the Vietnam Veterans of Savannah. He served Great Dane Trailers, Inc. in numerous capacities during his 46 years of service, and retired as Quality Control Manager. Charles' life was rich in faith, family, friends, music, and travel. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 70 years, Grace Louise Savage Tuten; a son Richard and Phrieda Tuten of Crawfordville, Fl.; 3 daughters, Sandra and Bill Parrott of Savannah; Carol and Phil Hampton of Edgewater, Fl., and Jeanette and Richard Carson of Savannah; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be on Monday at the Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Fred Brown and Lionel Marmolejo, officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park, Mausoleum. The family has asked that any memorial donations be directed to Central Christian Church, 6810 Skidaway Road, Savannah, Ga 31406, or Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
