CAPT. MARK ALAN ELSTER (USAF), 32, of Tacoma, Wash., formerly of Memphis, died Nov. 30 in Harlem, Mont. Services will be at noon today at Sam Abraham Chapel at Baron Hirsch Cemetery. Canale Funeral Directors has charge. He was a member of Baron Hirsch Congregation. He was in the service for 11 years and was commissioned as an officer in 1987 at officer training school in San Antonio, Texas. He was a navigator in the Air Force, and was a member of the Fourth Airlift Squadron. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Southwest Asia Service Award Medal with two Bronze Stars, an Air Traffic Controller Badge and Navigator Wings. Mr. Elster, the husband of Carrie Ellingson, also leaves his mother, Laverne Elster; his father, Dr. Alvin Elster; a sister, Stacy Vogel, and a brother, Brad Elster, all of Memphis, and his grandparents, Helen Elster of Memphis and Harry Saripkin of Atlanta.
