Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., by Brother Paul Jarrell. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Wayne. He was born December 31, 1935, in Wayne County, a son of the late Lacy Lee and Verna Curnutte Morrison. Jim was a retired carpenter for Rush Industries. He was a very outgoing person to everyone he met, and had many nicknames. "The Mayor of Dickson" was his favorite, but was known to many as "candyman" and "papaw." His wife, Janet Eloise Ferguson Morrison, preceded him in death, along with a sister, Bonnie Plymale. Survivors include two daughters, Gwen Morrison and Kim Manns and husband Carl, all of Huntington; a son, Allen Morrison and wife Karen of Wayne; a sister, Patty Ann Pancake of Lavalette; a brother, Billy Lee Morrison of Lavalette; five grandchildren, Jason and Joey Alexander, Josh and Miranda Morrison, and Julia Manns; two great-grandchildren, Kane Alexander and Kylee Morrison; and two close friends that "Jim" always enjoyed visiting with, Bernard Ross and Chuck Booth. The family extends a special thanks to Lera - you meant the world to Dad. He led a long and happy life and will be missed by many. Dad was a beloved husband, father and caring person, above all a good man. He rededicated his life to God, and for that we are truly thankful. "We love you dad."
