Big Joe Copeland was born circa 1783 in NC.
and married Hannah Thacker 15 Jan 1806 in Overton
Co. Tn. He died 27 Apr 1857, and is buried there in
Copeland Cove. There are many stories of his strength
and size. He could crack walnuts with his teeth and
lift hogs over the fence.
The Daughters of American Revolution "DAR"
erected a momument to them in Overton Co. Tn.
