On Thursday, April 7, 2011, the tallest tale-teller, greatest mandolin player, and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones. HC (Buddy) Dooley was born February 26, 1929 in Ridgely, Lake County, Tennessee. His parents were Clyde and Dortha Mai Dooley. He was the second of 14 children. Buddy lived only a short while in Tennessee. Most of life was spent in the deserts of Southern Arizona. It was there working on farms, ranches, and on the railroad, Buddy was formed into the man he would be. He spent 46 years working for the Southern Pacific Railroad. In the summer of 1948 life for Buddy would be forever changed. As he would put it, "the prettiest waitress in world" served him at Scotty's Café in Gila Bend, Arizona. Twitter pated Buddy began a feverish courtship. After a short, but long enough, courtship Buddy married Patsy Jensen on August 11, 1948. They were later sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Buddy and Patsy spent 62 fantastic years together. They built a spectacular family that included 8 children: Michael, Kathleen (Ted), Cindy (Henry), David, Bruce, Carla, Alan (Betty), and Clyde. Additionally, they have 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Buddy was met on the other side of our existence by a host loved ones. He is survived by his siblings, Robert (Cheryl), Katherine, and Patricia. He is also survived by his loving wife Patsy. The family wishes to thank Integrity Hospice Care for their compassionate service to Buddy during his last few days. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Gillies Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Buddy's name to a humanitarian or missionary fund. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City LDS 12th Ward Chapel, 620 North 300 East. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
