Graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Ct. in 1952.

During his 27 years in the Coast Guard, Capt. Jacobsen had many tours of duty, which included Juneau, Alaska, Eureka, California, Portsmouth, Virginia and Oahu, Hawaii.

Captain Jacobsen was also superintendent of the Curtis Bay Yard and later was assigned to Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

He is survived by a wife, a son and a daughter.
