Norman E. Vinson, 63, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Graveside services, with U.S. Marine military honors, will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 9, at Rosemound Cemetery with Elder Randall Jean of Highland Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the burial at the cemetery.

Norman was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Cecil R. Vinson and Norma Elaine Hill Vinson. He attended Arlington High School in Indianapolis, Casper College in Casper, Wyoming and the University of Wyoming in Casper. After college he served faithfully in the U.S. Marine Corps; serving our country in Vietnam; and after being wounded on April 21, 1967, he retired because of medical reasons. During Norman's marriage to Nancy Lee (Raia) Monkman, their children, Jennifer and Kimberly were born; and during his marriage to Larene T. Amundsen, his sons, Craig and Brian, were born.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly A. Poland.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Lynn Baker and husband, Robert; Jennifer Lynn's mother, Nancy Lee (Raia) Monkman; sons, Craig Allen Vinson and wife, Katherine, Brian Patrick Vinson and wife, Holly; Craig and Brian's mother, Larene T. Amundsen; grandchildren, Alora Yreille Vinson and Josiah James Vinson; and numerous other family members and friends.
