Ruby was born and raised in Scotland County, NC.

She was a good person, but she loved to fuss and argue, she would pick fights with some of the family just to fuss, she would then laugh, she enjoyed it, that's just who she was. She loved her family and would physically fight over them if need be.

My Grandparents met in 1942 and married September 18 1943

As a child she would go to her mother's hen house and grab a egg, walk with it in her sweatty hands a couple miles to the store to trade it for a penny piece of gum or candy. She grew up in a big family and always felt like she had to fend for herself over her siblings. She was walking by a neighbor's house one day and they had a watermelon patch, well she decided she wanted one, so she rolled one all the way home and when she got there her moma asked did they give you that watermelon? She said, "no" her mom made her roll it all the way back and told her to tell them she took it. When she got there she did just that, the man that lived there told her that it was okay and gave it to her so she had to roll it all the way back home, when they cut it open for her, it wasn't any good.
