John G. Betzner, a pioneer resident of Pipe Creek township, died at his home two miles northwest of Bunker Hill, Tuesday, July 3rd, in the nintieth year of
his age. Deceased was born in Wurtemburg, Germany, Oct 27, 1804. He immigrated to America and settled in Maryland in 1833. During his residence in Maryland, he was married to Justina Kellar(sic), who survives him. Mr. Betzner moved with his family to Ohio in 1838 and in 1844, came to Indiana and settled in Pipe Creek township. He bought the farm from the United States government in 1845, on which he died. The funeral took place from the Mount Hope church, south of the city, last Thursday forenoon, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near the church.
