BROTHER OF HENRY BALTZLI MET DEATH IN
COLLISION IN WABASH YARDS MONDAY NIGHT

Last night in the Kansas City Wabash
yards there occurred a collision between a
switch engine and a string of cars, which
resulted in the death of Fireman Carl Baltzli
and the serious injury of Engineer Allessear.
Switch engine 2:15 was double-heading with
another engine, moving a string of cars
through the yards when it collided with
another string of cars which the heavy fog
had made it impossible for the engine crew
to see. The force of the following engine
against the 215 lifted tender and crushed
in the cab.

Fireman Baltzli was crushed and scalded and
his death occurred at 9:50 this morning as
a result of his injuries. Engineer Allessear
had his leg broken and was severely scalded.
The unfortunate fireman was a brother of
Engineer Henry Baltzli of this city, who
went to Kansas City this afternoon in
response to a message telling of his
brother's fate.
