Mr. Joseph D. Byrd Jr., 82, of Dawsonville, died Tuesday, April 9, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville.
He was the husband of Margaret Rosenberger Byrd.
Born May 26, 1919, in Washington, he was a son of the late Joseph D. and Lillian Brewer Byrd.
Mr. Byrd was a farmer for many years in the area.
He served as deacon, elder and trustee of Darnestown Presbyterian Church, was a past president of Monocacy Cemetery, and a member of the Farm Bureau.
He enjoyed singing hymns at church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one brother, Edward Byrd of Dawsonville; and many cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, at Darnestown Presbyterian Church, 15120 Turkey Foot Road, Gaithersburg. Following the memorial services, interment will be held in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Joseph D. Byrd Jr. Foundation, 7600 Wisconsin Ave., Suite 100, Bethesda, Md. 20814.
