Mrs. Janie Rebecca Brown Boyd, of Fairburn, passed away Sat, March 26, 2011. She was born Dec. 24, 1924 in Rico GA, and was a graduate of Campbell High School in Fairburn. After completing business school, she became a secretary at General Electric in Atlanta. Later, she was a secretary for the chemical research laboratory, Tennessee Corporation in College Park. She was a long-time active member of Fairburn United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, George Alfred Boyd of Fairburn; daughter, Muriel Gable and her husband Jerry of Ellijay; son, George Boyd and his wife Lisa of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Jeff Gable and his wife Beverly of Roswell; Philip Gable and his wife Sara of NY NY; sister-in-law, Peggy (Mrs. George) Brown of Fairburn; Lucile (Mrs. Grady) Boyd of Jonesboro; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 28, 2011 at 11 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Rev. Vicki Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fairburn United Methodist Church, 5 Washington Street, Fairburn GA 30213. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5-78 pm at Parrott Funeral Home & Crematory in Fairburn.
