Dorothy Louise Tibbles, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center. She was born April 11, 1921, in St. Louis, daughter of John Paul and Louise Dorothy Messmer Weis. She and Raymond Elliott Tibbles were married Feb. 2, 1946, in St. Louis. He died March 30, 1995, in Cape Girardeau.

Dorothy was a 1939 graduate of Beaumont High School in St. Louis. She was secretary at General Cable Corp. in St. Louis in 1946 and secretary at Cape Girardeau Winnelson Company (formerly N. O. Nelson Company) in Cape Girardeau until her retirement in 1985.

She was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church and formerly a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, SEMO Boosters Club, SEMO Foundation, Copper Dome Society, Humane Society of Southeast Missouri, Otahki Girl Scout Council, Cape Girardeau County Republican Women, American Legion Auxiliary Post 63 and Southeast Missouri Arts Council.

Dorothy was past president of Lorimier School PTA, past member of PTA Council of Cape Girardeau and former Girl Scout leader of Troop 1.

She is survived by a daughter, Gail Patricia (William Wayne Sr.) Hennecke of Cape Girardeau; a grandson, Christopher Adam Smith of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Jaclyn Gail (James Jay) McMahel of Ocoee, Fla.; a great-grandson, Tyler James McMahel of Ocoee, Fla, and a great step-grandaughter Kyla Brianne McMahel of Mount Dora, Fla; brother-in-law, Richard Tibbles of Florissant, Mo; a sister-in-law, Lillian Weis of St. Louis; a cousin, Mary Lou Randazzo of St. Louis; nephews, Paul H. (Lucinda) of Osage Beach, John (Vanessa) of Mount Olive, Ill, and William Weis (Barbara) of California, Mo; Robert of New Buffalo, Mi, Jay H. of Devore, Ca, and Paul Tibbles of Phoenix, Az; nieces, Nancy Kelly (Mike) of Wildwood, Mo, Jeanne Tibbles of New Buffalo, Mi, Joy Bortle (Jack) of Ballwin, and Janet Combs (Chris) of Shawnee, Ok; and step-grandchildren William Wayne Hennecke Jr. of St. Louis and Danielle Hennecke of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Wilbur Weis of St. Louis, Mo; and three brothers-in-law Wilbur and Harold Tibbles of St. Louis, Mo, and George Tibbles of Berrien Springs, Mi; sisters-in-laws Esther, Adelaide, Arlene and Ruth Tibbles; and Elva Weis all of St. Louis.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hanover Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jeffrey Sippy will officiate. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to Hanover Lutheran Church Building Fund.
