Coon Rapids - Alice Anthofer, 82, of Coon Rapids, died on Sunday,Oct.1, 1989, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital. She had been in failing health for about a year before her death.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the Annunciation Church in Coon Rapids. Celebrant will be the Rev. Robert Fangman. Music will be provided by the Annunciation Chior.
Burial will be in the Annunciation Cemetery in Coon Rapids. Casket bearers will be Tom Reiling, Duane Anthofer, Michael Scott, Rick Anthofer, Mark Anthofer, and Charles Rasmussen.
Gift bearers will be Cheryl Anthofer and Jennifer Schmidt.
Rosaries will be today, Oct.2, at 4 p.m. and a scriptural prayer service followed by a rosary at 8 p.m.tonight.
Mrs. Anthofer was born Jan. 7, 1907 in Sac county, a daughter of Joseph and Magdelene (Gute) Skalla. She attended rural schools near her home and parochial schools in Breda. On Feb. 15, 1926, she married George Anthofer. They lived in the Coon Rapids vicinity, retiring to the Thomas Rest Haven in mid-1989. During her lifetime, she was a homemaker and a member of Annunciation parish and the Ladies Guild.
Survivors include her husband, George, of Coon Rapids; her children, Joe Anthofer and his wife, Lois, of Breda; Ed Anthofer and his wife, Bonnie, of Coon Rapids; Bernedine and her husband, Ray Reiling, of Coon Rapids; Clara Anthofer of Carroll; Albert Anthofer and his wife, LaVonne, of Carroll; Teresa and her husband, Allan Linscheid, of Mankato, Minn.; Irene and her husband, John Scott, of Coon Rapids; Betty Lund of Crystal, Minn., Ronald Anthofer and his wife, Rita, of Coon Rapids, and Joyce and her husband, Ken Schmidt of Juneau, Wis., 34 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Anna Budche of Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Leonard in 1959, a great-grandchild, Lucas, three brothers; John, Joe, and Frank Skalla, and three sisters,Elizabeth Heim, Mary Wanniger, and Frances Wurr.
