JOHN C. LIPPINCOTT
John C. Lippincott, aged 83, died yesterday at his home, 225 Roup st. He was born in the old Lippincott homestead at the intersection of the old Fourth st. road, now Fifth ave. and Lippincott's lane, now Dinwiddle st. He was a son of William and Ann Williamson Lippincott and was educated at the Western University of Pennsylvania. With a brother, James Lippincott, he founded the Hubbard-Lippincott-Bankwell Co. For many years he was associated with a brother, William H. Lippincott, in the grocery business in the Diamond and during the latter part of his businees career, he acquired extensive oil interests. He was a member of the Masonic order since early manhood. He belonged to Zerubbabel Chapter 102, Royal Arch Masons and Tancred Commandery 48, Knights Templar. He married Miss Abbie S. Wade, daughter of the late Levi Wade, on Sept. 1, 1859. He is survived by his widow, three sons, Charles W. Lippincott of Ogden, Utah; Frank E. and Norman R. Lippincott of Pittsburg, and one daughter, Mrs. James A. Botsford of Pittsburg.
