Helen Mathison was the daughter of Clarence George and Mabel (Grass) George. She was born in Owatonna, Minnesota while her family farmed there. They later moved several times finally settling in Holt Township in Clearwater County. Helen married Gilmer Gulbranson in 1938. The couple had fourteen children, one baby died at birth. Those living are Donna, Alice, Sharon, Karen Gilmer, Gary, Sandra, Wayne, Robert, Steven, Nancy, Laurie, Tammye. Mr. Gulbranson died in 1978, and she later married Melvin Mathison. Helen worked hard to help raise her younger sibling and then raised a large family of her own. Helen is buried in the Norway Lake cemetery.
