MR. GEORGE MARCUS ADAMS – AGE 85, - Of Ringgold, GA, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 in a local hospital.
He was a member and Deacon of Shiloh Baptist Church, retired from Dr. John P. Hoover.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mose Adams and Flora Mae Trimble Adams, brothers, Sam, James, J.D. and A.C. Adams, sisters, Inez Stamper, Mattie Green, Mozella Adams and Florene Madden.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Willa Lee Patterson Adams, four sons, Willie George(Catherine) Adams of Raleigh, NC; Herman L. (Luz M.) Reid of Connecticut; Robert O. (Trina) Reid of Cleveland, OH.; and James Reid of Ringgold, GA; two daughters, Ms. Judy Shropshire of Lafayette, GA, and Mrs. Nancy (Kenneth) Jones of Cleveland, OH.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary E. Smith, Ms. Lula Mae Wheeler of Chattanooga, TN.; brothers, Misters Harvey (Helen) Adams, Charles (Mary Ella) Adams of Ringgold, GA, Leroy Adams of Chattanooga, TN.; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Betty Adams of Rossville, GA, and Mrs. Myrtle Adams of Ringgold, GA; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Service will be held Friday, April 1, 2011 at 1:00 p. m. at Mt. Peria Baptist Church with Rev. J. W. Strickland, Eulogist, Rev. Jimmy Ingram, and Rev. R. L. Knox officiating.
His remains will lie in state at the funeral home after 11:00 a.m. Thursday.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
Interment, Ringgold Community Cemetery.
