John E. Schweitzer, 80 of 2408 Crestview Court, died at 12:40 p.m. Monday, November 23, in Home Hospital where he had been a patient one week.
Mr. Schweitzer was born in Frankfort, August 22, 1912. He had been a resident of Lafayette since 1923. He married Helen Martin, January 18, 1936 in Lafayette, and she survives.
He attended Monitor School, Oakland Elementary School and graduate from Jefferson High School in 1931. He was a member of the first Jefferson High School band.
Mr. Schweitzer formerly owned and operated the Lafayette Plumbing and Speciality company retiring in 1969. At one time he was a salesman for the Journal and Courier and the Public Service company.
He also formed a dance band that played throughout the midwest and for a number of local organizations.
Mr. Schweitzer was a former member of the Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus and the Lafayette Country Club. He was an avid golfer.
