Mrs. Theresa Bayer, oldest resident in this community, who would have been 90 years of age in 22 days, died at her home here yesterday afternoon at 2:45 following a week's illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock in St. Mary's church here. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The Rev. H. J. Dries will be in charge.
Mrs. Bayer was born August 17, 1844 at Tirschspill von Sprauss, Bavaria, Germany and came to the United States in 1869, settling on Lake Superior, Marquette county, Wisconsin, being married there the year of her arrival on Sept. 15, to Adam Bayer. Before her marriage her name was Theresa Schultes.
In 1872 Mr. and Mrs. Bayer came to Iowa and in 1876 came to Carroll county in a covered wagon, residing in this county 58 years.
Survivors include five sons, John of Munster, Tex., Adam, who lived with his mother, George in Willy, and Frank and Joseph, who live on farms near Willey, and one daughter, Theresa of Omaha, Nebraska and a brother living in Buffalo, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 26, 1922 and three children, Robert, 1906, Aloysius, 1930 and Lawrence, 1918.
Mrs. Bayer was a member of St. Mary's church and of the Rosary Sodality.
