George B. Mouchette, Sr., age 79, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 21, 2002. Services will be held Sunday, November 24, at 2:00 p.m. at First Wesleyan Church of Tuscaloosa. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 7-9 p.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Mary Belle Mouchette, and brothers Lesley Mouchette and Horace Mouchette.

Family members remaining are his loving wife of 57 years, Hazel Shirley Mouchette, daughters Regina Kirkland (Don) and Debbie Baker (Bill), and a son, Brooks Mouchette (Debbie), all of Tuscaloosa. He has one sister, Jimmie Black of Birmingham. He has seven loving grandchildren, Eric Kirkland (Cindy), Todd Kirkland (Jenny), Leanne Kirkland, Rand Cooper (Kellie), Haley Baker, Colby Mouchette, and Jordan Mouchette, all of Tuscaloosa. He is also blessed to have two great-grandchildren, Mary Sullivan Kirkland and Caroline Kirkland.

Mr. Mouchette was a Northport native, graduating from Tuscaloosa County High in 1941. He attended the University of Alabama for two years in pre-med. He then entered the armed services and served during World War II as a medic in the Army. After the war, he began a business career spanning close to 60 years. He, along with his friend and parther Ed Dockery, began a business that became known as Electric Motor and Supply. In 1971, Mr. Mouchette began a business of his own named Lighting and Appliance. With much success, this business is now known as Lighting Plus and stands as a testimony to his hard work and wonderful leadership.

Mr. Mouchette was an active member of Albert Methodist Church and later First Wesleyan Church of Tuscaloosa. He had the gift of generosity and continually gave of himself and what God had blessed him with to those around him. He was a good and faithful servant to his family and for his Lord Jesus Christ.

Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Eric Kirkland, Todd Kirkland, Rand Cooper, and Colby Mouchette, nephews Roland Mouchette and Larry Englebert, family friends Miles Ridgeway and Doug Harless.
