My grandmother, Mary Josephine "Mary Jo" Wadsworth - 13 Feb 1903 Sapulpa, Oklahoma - 20 April 1924 - South Heights Hospital, Sapulpa, Oklahoma; was his 1st wife, married the "Indian Way." She never left the hospital after the birth and died of Toxemia poisoning. Mom and Sam were Rh neg AB blood and mom's blood poisoned her mother's. One child. Picture is of Sam and my grandmother, Mary Wadsworth at home in Sapulpa where they were getting ready to go fishing. My grandmother Mary was raised by Sam and Mattie from her teens until she died. My mother was raised by Sam and Mattie May Payne-Brown for her first 6 months of life. Mary's 2nd husband, Martin Joseph McAlpine's mother came by train to Oklahoma to take her away from her paternal grandparents. Sam's sister, Dorothy Brown wrote mom in the 1940's and said the whole Tribe "howled" when mom was taken from them.

Marriage #3 was to Mary Ellich 5 Feb 1923 Fort Worth, Dallas, Texas - 20 June 1991 Corpus Christi, Nueces, Texas. Married on 11 Feb 1953. They were later divorced on 28 Aug 1969 in San Patricio, Texas. By this marriage he had:
(1) Samuel Wayne Brown, Jr. born 8 March 1954,
(2) Mary Alice Brown born 26 March 1957
(3) Penelope Sue "Penny" Brown born 17 July 1959 and died at the age of 22 on 19 Feb 1982 of bone cancer
(4) Patricia Jean Brown born 12 June 1964.

Sam Wayne Brown, Sr. was a mixed Yuchi Native American who was murdered by an unknown assailant in his apartment. He died instantly from blunt force trauma to the head from being hit with a hammer on the back of his head. As of 10 October 2012 it's still an unsolved murder case in Texas. His father, Chief Samuel William Brown, Jr. was a full blood mixed Yuchi. His mother, Mattie May Payne-Brown was white.
