Wife of Pvt. Phillip Franz Trump. Katherine and Phillip met in St. Louis and were married there on 23 Aug 1846 at the Holy Ghost Berman Evangelical Church by the Rev. F. Pioker.
After marrying, they owned a farm next to Phillip's brother in Lee County, Iowa where they remained until 1855. Catherines family was living in Kansas and so in 1855 after selling their farm, they moved to Leavenworth, Kansas where they owned a store and boarding house.
On 6 Sep 1861, Phillip joined the Union Army, Co B, 8th Regiment Kansas Volunteers. Phillip was 44 years old and left Katherine and seven children, of which the youngest had just been born in 1862. He died 11 Nov 1862 of dysentery while in a military hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is buried in the Nashville National Cemetery, Nashville, Tennessee.
