Prof. J. C. Richardson, who was principal of the Calhoun school last year and this year, died last night at the Toumey Hospital of typhoid fever, after an illness of several weeks. Prof. Richardson was from Durham, N. C., to which place the body was shipped this morning. A brother of Prof. Richardson has been here with him for the past week during his illness.

Mr. Richardson has made may friends in Sumter during his stay here to whom his death has brought a feeling of sadness. He was a young man in the prime of life, of exemplary character, and his passing is one to deeply deplored.
