Born November 10, 1924 in Stone Point (just north of
Wise)Community, Van Zandt County Texas, to parents Christian Burl Wise (1894-1965) and Edna Bernice Cabiness (1902-1951). Ruby Joyce passed away of natural causes on 3 May 2016, age 91, in San Antonio after an abundant and blessed life.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be remembered for her strong faith, hard work, and many accomplishments during her life.  At the time of her death, she was a  member of historic Four Mile Lutheran Church, Prairieville, Texas’ oldest Norwegian Lutheran Church founded by her Norwegian ancestors in 1847.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 58 years Claude Clarence Reed (1919-2001), sister Mary Alice, and infant brother L.D. Wise.

Her career of hard work and service spanned over 7 decades. She grew up working on the family farm, working fields and tending livestock.  In early married life, she worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. in Dallas, then moved back to Wise Community, Van Zandt County. In Canton, Texas, she had positions with Eubank Hardware Store, Eubank Funeral Home, First National Bank of Canton, and Federal Agricultural Stabilization Office (ASCS). She has long been a member of Red Hat Society of America and was recently inducted into Albert Sidney Johnston Chapter 2060, United Daughters of the Confederacy.

She is survived by her son Sanford Christian Reed and wife Charlotte Ann Darden Reed of San Antonio; brother Clarence Robert Wise and wife Joyce Evans Wise, of Garland; grandchildren Susan Annette Weimer, Scott Christian Reed and wife Kyna; Michele Denise Smith and husband John, all of San Antonio; Great  grandchildren Hunter Ross Carter, Paige Lauren Trepkowski, Reed Randall Weimer, Morgan Cassidy Reed, Payton Colette Reed, River Christian Reed, Jacob William Smith, Adam Wise Smith, Christian John Smith, and Samuel Darden Smith;  great great grand Children  Ava Rose Alvarez,  Mason Thomas Trepkowski, Brooks Ralph Trepkowski, with numerous beloved and cherished nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held in San Antonio on May 7 at 11:00 AM at University United Methodist Church Chapel (officiated by Rev. John Edward Dellis) and also at Four Mile Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 13 (officiated by Rev. Jerry Don Groom).
