Adaline "Addie" Elizabeth Jones was born to Lenzora "Lorenzo" K Jones & Cyrena Curry on 17 Feb 1863 in Herrington, Delaware. She migrated to Illinois in 1869 with her parents, two sisters, and her one and only brother. Addie attended the Wyanet Schools and married Samuel Farnham on 23 Nov 1882 at Wyanet, Bureau County, Illinois while still in her teens. They had six children; Charlie O B:1885, James "Jim" B:1887, a baby girl who died in infancy, Clyde B:1889 and finally twin sons who also died as infants. All of their children were born in Illinois.

About 1890 Addie divorced Samuel Farnham, and later married John C. Barkley, in the town of Wyanet in Illinois and to this union four children were born; Calvin John, William C, Mary Pearl & Warren Lorenzo. It is believed that Addie and John divorced as stated on the 1930s US Census Addie is noted as "divorced".

During her early days Addie was much in demand as a midwife, and delivered over one thousand babies in her span of life. She was confined to a wheelchair some years before her death as a patient of the Bureau County Home. Addie passed away at the home on August 12, 1930 and was preceded in death by four sons, one daughter and her parents. She sleeps among her family and relatives in Forest Hills Cemetery in the village of Wyanet, where she spent all but 16 years of her life.
