John A. Mahoney, 84, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at Ossian Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Mahoney held various engineering positions until 1971, when he started his own business, A. Fab Enterprises Contracting. He was a graduate of The Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville.
A U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, Mr. Mahoney was a member of American Legion Post 241. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and treasurer for many years for the Holy Name Society.
Mr. Mahoney was born Sept. 29, 1920, in New Haven, Ky. His first wife, Cecilia (Roth) Mahoney, preceded him in death on May 12, 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Rita (Wasylk) Mahoney of Fort Wayne; daughters Mrs. Terry (Monica) Hughes of Radondo Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Hans (Mary) Christianson of Naperville, Ill.; sons John B. Mahoney and Dennis M. Mahoney, both of Fort Wayne, and Donald James Mahoney of Columbia, S.C.; stepsons Keith Wasylk and Brent Wasylk, both of Fort Wayne; brothers Paul Mahoney of Louisville, Ky., and Louis F. Mahoney of Long Island, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Seven brothers and sisters also preceded him in death.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home for Funerals, Fort Wayne. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, with Fr. Joe Rulli officiating. There is also calling one hour prior to the services on Monday.
Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the St. Therese Building Fund or New Hope Hospice.
