Funeral services for Mrs. Mittie Lee Pitts, prominent Oakland Community resident, were held May 24, 1962, from the Bethany Baptist Church at Oakland. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery with Senter Funeral Home of Fulton in charge. She died at her home on May 22 after an illness of three months. She was 74.
Survivors included five sons, Bruce Pitts and Bill Pitts, both of Tremont, and Rev. Harold Pitts of Canton, N.C., Horace Pitts of Fulton, and Charles Pitts of Waukegan, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. J. Q. Spearman of Tremont; two brothers, Earnest Weaver of Fulton and John Weaver of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Mrs. Dora Holley and Mrs. Lula Reed of Memphis, Mrs. Maye Hale of Fulton and Mrs. Elvie Whitesides of Fort Cambell, Ky.
