He dived off Coolidge Dam and died. He said it was his lifelong ambition, but it cost him his life. He and five friends drove to the lake early on a Sunday morning. He told his friends that plunging from the top of the top of the dam had been his lifelong ambition. He took off his clothes and climbed the guard rail on top of the dam. One of his friends told officers he pulled Knight back from the railing, but as he turned to pick up his discarded clothes, Knight climbed back up on the railing and dived. Rescue operations were summoned, and the body found by rescue diver Roy Wakefield of Claypool. Coroner Clyde Shute ruiled the death accidental. Knight had worked for Inspiration Copper Company for four months.
He was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Knight; a brother, Terry; and a sister, Mrs. Gail Kenton, all of San Manuel, AZ
