Noma Ozelle Wallace Tillman, age 90, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011, at her home in Tucumcari, NM, following an extended illness.
She was born February 14, 1921, at the Wallace Ranch near Norton, NM. She was one of eight children of Edward Hutson Wallace and Maggie Lee Davenport Wallace.
She had recently celebrated her 90th birthday. Noma married Nolan Tillman of Wheatland, NM, December 18, 1937. They lived in the Wheatland community until they relocated to San Jon, NM, in the early 1950s. Noma worked as the Bookkeeper for the San Jon Public Schools for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the San Jon United Methodist Church for 60 years, and a member of the Wheatland Extension Club for 25 years. After retiring Noma Relocated to Tucumcari, NM.
Nolan and Noma had four children, Teddy Joe Tillman and Kay, Janie Joan Tillman Stith and Charles, Nolan Virge Tillman and Kathie, and Edward Lee Tillman and Gail. Of those unions, there were 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
Noma was preceded in death by her parents, Hut and Maggie Wallace; her husband, Nolan Tillman; her son, Teddy Joe Tillman; a daughter-in-law ,Janie Tillman; four sisters, Joan Rusk, Johnie Gifford, Maxine Fife, and May McDoland; three grandsons; a granddaughter, and a great granddaughter.
She is survived by her children along with one sister, Sue Tucek of Tucumcari, NM; two brothers, Jack Wallace and Wanda and Joe Wallace and Dolores of Las Cruces, NM; sister-in-law, Maxine Wallace of Norton, NM, and a host of nephews and nieces.
Services celebrating her life will be at the San Jon High School Gymnasium on Wednesday, March 9th beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev Heath Husted officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Wheatland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grand and great grandsons, Andy Tillman, James Stith, Travis Tillman, Eddie Tillman, Jason Jones, Teddy Stith, Lynn Tillman, Max Tillman, Hattan Tillman, Ryan Richardson, Chase Tillman, Jackson Herr, Zack
