Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at St. Mary's Cathedral Upper Church for William A. "Bill" Hagglund, age 68, of St. Cloud, who passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, March 5, 2011. Reverend Tony Oelrich will officiate. Burial will take place in Assumption Cemetery with Military Honors.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Bill was born on February 16, 1943 in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey to Arnold and Rita (Howard) Hagglund. He married Patricia J. Gregersen on December 12, 1969 in St. Casmir's Catholic Church in St. Paul. Bill served his country honorably in the United States Armed Forces from 1963 until his retirement in 1999, most recently as a recruiter for the Army National Guard where he was inducted into the Recruiting and Retention Hall of Fame. During that time he was also employed as a Special Deputy by the Stearns County Sheriff Department. He then went to work as a Community Service Officer for the St. Cloud Police Department. Bill was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428, Knights of Columbus Council #961, St. Cloud REACT Team, and MN representative of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Bill enjoyed Twins and Vikings games as well as spending time in his back yard with his man made pond and new fire place. He was a real family man and his compassion and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patty; children, Shaun (Kelly Schmidt) of Eden Prairie, Misty of St. Cloud; brother and sister, Dennis (Linda) and Linda (Craig) Stepan both of Hugo; mother-in-law, June Harper, sisters-in-law, Grace Radman, Rosa Hand-Davis; brothers-in-law, Darrell and Marvin Gregersen; and several nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Gordon; and brother-in-law, Virgil "Butch".
