Jack was a store owner , business man , rancher & finally a cowboy . Jack loved to do things outdoors like hunt . They had a big ranch on the Milk River Ridge to the west of Warner Alberta . Singer & actor Bing Crosby would come to there ranch very often in the fall & go hunting the the Morton family & friends . They had one of the finest herd of hereford cows & bulls in western Canada . Jack one the title of calf roper at the world famous Calgary Stampede . In the year of 1951 he also won the title Canadian championship . 1967 saw him win the title of Southern Alberta circuit championship . Jack had the honor of roping a calf before the Queen Elizabeth 2 when she visited the Calgary Stampede . After her retired from rodeo he continued on at Calgary Stampede as a arena flagman & director of the Calgary Rodeo & stampede until 1973 . In the year of 1978 The American Sportman filmed a hunting series on Jack Morton & Bing Crosby on the Morton Ranch . It was televised in the States & as well as Canada .
