My grandfather Heber was born at home on the farm in Barnwell Alberta. He lived in Barnwell all his life except for 6 months that he lived in Calgary Alberta. Heber wanted to serve in World War 2 but his eye site kept him out of the army. They said his eyes were to bad to serve . He raised food on the farm as his part to the war efforts . Heber was born into a family of 6 kids 5 lived to see adult hood one was born with problem and died the same day. Heber meet his future wife at a dance in Lethbridge Alberta . Heber married his wife of 57 years Doreen Riley of Lethbridge on 14 feb 1945 . After they were married Heber bought 50 acres of land and started farming with a few implements and with 2 borrowed horses & 2 more he was breaking in . After two years he bought a Massey Harris tractor for farming and there only means of transportation . They ended up own over 500 acres of land They raised a family of 7 children . All except one got married and has no children of her own but she a great aunt and a great person . Heber served as a school trustee for the Taber school division for 18 years as chairman . Music was also a great love in his life . He played in a band sousaphone in Barnwell and Taber for 35 years . His association with the Taber German band was very rewarding which won 1 prize for the best canadian band in the Calgary Stampede . Heber loved sports especially watching his grandchildren playing basketball,hockey,baseball,& volleyball . Heber liked bowling 10 pin and won trophes for his efforts . Heber had a huge dry farm & cattle operation 2 miles north 1 mile west of Barnwell Alberta . Heber was buried in the north side of the cemetery along the trees & water . A very nice resting place for a man that did so much in his life . We all miss you grandpa . Heber left behind a great family of 7 children 32 grandchildren another grandson William Heber Anderson that died as a child memorial # 66566507 & 38 Great grandchildren as of year 2011 & more on the way .
