Danny was born May 29, 1926, in Silver City, N.M. He joined the Army during WWII and served with the 101st Airborne Division, serving in the European campaign. After the war, Danny moved to Morenci where he worked for Phelps Dodge as a truck driver and later with demolitions. He retired from Phelps Dodge in 1980 after 32 years of service. Danny married Ernestina Munoz on Oct. 10, 1948, in Silver City. They moved their family to Franklin in 1964. Together they owned and operated Danny's Cafe in Duncan. Danny enjoyed hunting, fishing, bingo and going to casinos. He was a member of the Clifton Beneficio Propio and a parishoner of St. Mary's Catholic Mission.
Survivors inlcude a son, Ralph Abeyta of Mesa; daughters, Lydia Matcham, Margaret Kelley and Joann Rains, all of Glendale, Nora Bejarano of Duncan, and Carol Terrell of Ontario, Calif.; brothers, Frank Abeyta of Tucson and Pete Abeyta of Ontario, Canada; sisters, Lucy Vega of Silver City, N.M., Josie Ramariz and Veronica Drigger, both of Tucson; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren also survive. Danny was preceded in death by his wife Ernestina and grandson Leonard Bejarano.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bunker's Caldwell Chapel.
