Ethel Marie Fosky was born on March 3, 1944 to the late Frank and Minnie Bell Fosky in Craven County, North Carolina. She passed away in Baltimore, Maryland after a lengthy illness.

Ethel started her education in the Craven County Public School System, and having moved to Baltimore in 1953, she completed her schooling there.

Ethel accepted Christ at an early age and a few years after moving to Baltimore, fourteen year-old Ethel joined the Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her death. She assisted whenever and wherever she could, whether Missionary duties, assisting with the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the homeless, assisting the kitchen staff, and many other things.

Ethel was also a singer. She was a member of The Inspirational Singers of Mt. Calvary. It was a small group of women who loved to praise God by lifting their voices. Once the group disbanded, she joined The Gospel Chorus of Mt. Calvary, which was one of the several choirs within the church.

In 1961, Ethel married Eddie Hudson. From this union, one child, Syvonia, was born.

Ethel gave her time to others willingly and she loved her friends and family dearly. She worked as a VISTA volunteer for two years. She also taught pre-school education for eight years, worked as an employment counselor, a liason, and an organizer. Ethel was a government employee, until her health began to fail.

Ethel was a snazzy dresser and she had many joys in life: family, friends, cooking, traveling and just expressing the love of God through her words and deeds.

Ethel leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Syvonia H. Spencer (remarried 2010); one foster child, Stacey B. Jones; one grandson, Dwayne G. Lightsey, Jr; one grandaughter, Sharnell L. Johnson; one God-Daughter, Bridgett Clinton; one God-Son; Pastor Jonathan Patterson; one brother, Frank Heath (deceased,2000); one sister, Karen Fosky; four neices, Tonia H. Brown (deceased,2019), Whanda H. Kilgo, Lenora H. Coe, and Aerian H. Tatum; one nephew, Frank Heath, Jr; one son-in-law, Dwayne Lightsey, Sr; two sister-in-laws, Rosetta Heath (deceased,2013) and Rosa Irby (deceased,2016).

Devoted friends: Betty Wilson, Carolyn Brown, Elizabeth Williams, Mildred Jennings (deceased,2009), Willistine Phillips, Evangeline Elliott, Elaine W. Clinton, and Alice Holmes (deceased,2002).
