But its counterpart in German would be Recks or Ruch. Jorg means George. He is known to have moved to Heidelberg Twp., Bucks Co, then Northampton Co and finally Lehigh Co. onto land purchased in 1739. In 1757 he was the Justice of the Peace. By trade he was a blacksmith. He is listed as one of the earliest settlers of Heidelberg bet 1735 and 1740. Dec 22, 1739 he was granted a patent for 400 acres on a branch of Trout Creek in Heidelberg. Dec 1749 he was granted a patent for 152 acres in Heidelberg Twp. His older sons can be found in many early documents of the township. Jorg and his family were Lutherans. Rev. Johannes Helifrich performed his funeral service. A petition filed Mar 17, 1773 states that he died intestate "some time ago."
