Lloyd Virgil Compton, age 93, of Witts Springs, AR passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011. He was born in Witts Springs on September 27, 1917 to Bert and Myrtle Compton.
Lloyd married Norma Taylor and they had one son.

Lloyd was a graduate of Witts Springs School and Arkansas Tech University. He fought in World War II and was presented the Purple Heart and numerous other awards. He was retired from the American Postal Workers. Lloyd was a member of the Witts Springs Masonic Lodge #603. He attended Witts Springs Community church.

Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Norma; two sisters, Bernell Johnson and Agnes Hammons; and two nephews, Coy and Van Hammons.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Compton of Freemont, California; one brother-in-law, Roy Johnson of El Sobrante, California; two nieces; the Kathryn Blair Family who are his adopted family; and a host of other friends and family who will mourn his passing.

Services for Lloyd Compton will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Witts Springs Community Church with Bro. Jim Arnold officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in the Witts Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Russell Blair, Craig Blair, Kenton Blair, Quenton Blair, Mark Blair and Jerry Arter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Brian Blair and the Witts Springs Masonic Lodge #603 members.

Grandparents-William Parks Compton and Mettie Caldonia Compton. Birton "Birtie" Gains is a son of William & Mettie Compton, and Birton is the father of Lloyd Virgil Compton.
