Evert William "Bub" Stacy was born October 13, 1927 in Wagoner to Evert and Pearl (Piersall) Stacy. Bub passed away Sunday morning, February 27, 2011 in his home with his loving wife and children by his side. Bub attended and graduated from Wagoner High School. He then attended Oklahoma State University at Stillwater until he was drafted into the service. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the intelligence corps with his job being deciphering the Russian code. After his discharge from the service, he joined his father in the car business known as Stacy Motor Co. which he operated with his father until he sold the business in 1987. Bub married Mary Lavone Nickle December 28, 1951 in the First United Methodist Church in Pryor. Bub served on various committees of the First United Methodist Church including chairman of the board of trustees and administrative board. He was a charter member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Bub served on the City Council, served as chairman of the Wagoner Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Wagoner Lions Club of which he was a fifty year member. Bub was a member of the Wagoner Masonic Lodge #98. He also served as commander of the American Legion and was a fifty-year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He and Mary were former members of the Wagoner Dance Club for many years. Bub was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Deloris Faye Jean and Geneva Pauline Bradfield and a niece, Lanette. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Mary of the home; his children, Evert Dirl "Chip" Stacy and Jamielu Stacy Miller and husband Bradley; grandchildren, Nicole Stacy and Shelly (Rachael) Stacy and Brandon Joe Miller; one great-grandson, Dean; brothers, Chuck Stacy and wife Kathy of Shawnee, and Frankie Stacy and wife Wanda; sisters, Doris Mitchell and husband Bill of New Castle, Pennsylvania and Deena Bottom and husband Larry of Colleyville, Texas; brother-in-law, Jim Jean of Wagoner; twelve nieces and nephews, and thirteen great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends during visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday evening, March 1, 2011 in the Hersman-Nichols Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Shannon Davis officiating and Larry Abernathy giving the eulogy. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery prior to the celebration of life. The family request memorial donations be given to the First United Methodist Church or Friendship Sunday School Class. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Hersman-Nichols Funeral Home.
